3 Books That Have Transformed My Season

This season I have spent some time with a lot of really beautiful and inspiring books. I love when I read something and it immediately resonates with me — I find myself thinking about the words through slow and quiet moments, they inspire me, and provide me with different perspectives on the world.

3 Books That Have Transformed My Season

1. Wild by Cheryl Strayed

I didn’t read any reviews for Wild before I dived into it - but I was entranced by every word. Cheryl Strayed writes a memoir about the trials she faced while hiking the Pacific Crest Trail and how the journey ultimately strengthened and healed her. There was so much freedom, adventure, willingness, to step into the unknown. To do something that scares you. And how nature has a transformative gift to share with you.

2. upstream by mary oliver

I was sold on Mary Oliver after reading the first culmination of words in her collection of essays called Upstream. She writes with such wisdom, knowing, understanding. She speaks from “ see[ing] the world from the level of the grasses" literally. She’s slow and methodical. She pays attention to nature. And shares it’s beauty with you through her writing.

3. Bird by Bird by Anne Lamott

Anne Lamott shares her passion for writing in a book full of useful lessons. While it certainly is grounded in writing, I think Lamott touches on creativity, specifically how to work through projects. She highlights discipline as an essential creative habit, to stay close to your work and practice it daily.
