Wood Palettes —

Pigments bring warmth to an artist’s studio. They are packed with natural minerals, creating alchemy. I strive to respect this magic with each tool I introduce to them, including my artist palette.

Egyptians traditionally used wood palettes to mix and store their natural earth paints. So, when I couldn’t find the exact palettes I had in mind that would embody this warmth, I decided to make my own.

Each wood palette is unique and individually hand-carved in my studio. The circular wells efficiently distribute paint onto your brush and it’s a great way to examine the differences between natural earth pigments. They are finished with multiple layers of eco-friendly oil and an additional layer of wood wax.

+ 2 round wells, measuring 0.5” wide and 0.125” deep

+ 1 mixing well, measuring 1.25” long, 0.5” wide, 0.125” deep

Please note, wood palettes may slowly stain with use depending on the lightness of the wood, but with proper care, they will tell many stories in the years to come.
