process
a 90-minute prerecorded class that teaches the techniques, principles, and self-awareness I use to remain in process with my creative practice
WHAT
Are you ready to have unwavering confidence in all the ways you actually enjoy working and view it as a creative form in itself? This 90-minute class is your gateway to tune into your life, trust your curiosity, and unlock your full creative potential. You will learn how to find presence and generate ideas, gather research and organize notes, and identify vessels and create in different containers. You'll delve deep into the essence of process and learn to view aspects of your life as a canvas for creative practice.
Woven throughout a series of engaging lessons, you will learn:
Tune into your life: Learn to harness the magic of your every day to find what it is you want to make art about. Discover inspiration and ideas that are closely connected to your natural curiosity.
Collect your findings: Explore practical techniques to capture and organize your thoughts and ideas in accessible ways. Embrace your natural tendencies (even if they are scattered) and begin limiting overwhelm to channel inspiration into your work.
Synthesize your observations: Stop looking at what other people are working on. Discover how to synthesize your observations and research into compelling subjects and themes that infuse depth and meaning into your creative endeavors.
Pick your containers: Make your body of work, write your newsletter, submit to a show. View each part of the way you work as a form of creation. Find the best vessels for your ideas and learn how to plug them into your containers (even if you are just starting).
Process is unique—class will be facilitated using a mix of instruction, prompts, list-making, gathering, and sharing so that you can use this guidance to help you find your process.
This class is for you if
You feel overwhelmed with all your interests and ideas and are looking to streamline your process and focus your energy where it matters most
You feel the weight of (self-imposed) expectations and want to find honest intention and fulfillment in all the activities that lead to the final result
You are dreaming of starting a newsletter, a collection, a podcast, a class, or another project and have no idea where to begin.
You crave deeper exploration and want to learn how to expand upon your subjects, connect to your practice, and grow in your voice and confidence
You are curious to see inside my process, and how I have fully embraced creative research to help gather and distill ideas for my artwork, newsletter, writing projects, and film photography.
If you are looking for ways to further lean into your process this season - to feel supported in viewing your life as a canvas and leaning into the research being a form of creation, then this class is for you. If you are more focused on production right now, and working towards a means to an end, then I'd save this class for later.
You do not need to meet any credentials or call yourself one specific thing to take this class. I invite you to bring your full self, including your curiosity <3
By the end of this class, you will emerge with:
Techniques, rituals, and routines to find a greater connection between your life and your creative work to meet it with the least resistance. Begin to truly embody a creative life.
Practices to help record ideas and synthesize research into subjects, themes, and concepts to infuse into all creation forms. You’ll see my messy process and how I embrace it in a way that is most effective for me.

Permission to trust your creative process and get out of your own way.
HOW
Class is prerecorded and you will have lifetime access to its content and materials empowering you to tune in whenever you get stuck.
WHO
This class is taught by Lauren Sauder, a visual artist and writer. Lauren has taught several online classes and has been invited to present at masterminds, creative retreats, and conference settings. She’s facilitated multiple community groups and has mentored dozens of artists 1:1.
Full transparency: I have found the most consistency, confidence, and fulfillment in my work by approaching (and accepting) research, reflection, and creating with purpose and intention (even if the process looks a bit chaotic). Since graduating with a BFA in 2015, I have made concerted efforts to find myself more in my process. Because when I have, I have not only felt more grounded in my work, I have felt confidence, a sureness for where I am now, that I have never felt before. I am so excited for you to join me anf take the first step towards embodying your creative process.
WHY
My hope for this course’s impact is that creative people learn how to embrace their own curiosity so they can feel embodied in their process building lasting trust and confidence in the way they work. This class will give you tools, guidance, and permission to remain connected to your process, lean into everyday spaces, and view the way you work as a form of creation.
