You know when you meet someone and they just have this light to them? This is how I felt when I met the women I chose to have my second slow studio conversation with. She was pure and full of endless knowledge. We clicked and immediately decided we needed to extend our conversation over a long coffee.

Slow Studio Conversations - 001

My first conversation was shared with someone who has quickly become a really great friend of mine. At the beginning of the year, I slowly began to let people into my studio practice by sharing my process on Instagram live. It is a very raw and a very vulnerable step for me. One day out of the blue, this amazing soul reached out, sharing her thoughts and joy in seeing the process. Once the live was over, she quickly messaged me and our conversation flourished from there.

This resonated with me. I knew exactly why I started the 100 day project, but this summed it up in a perfect sentence.

The Pigment Collection

As I reflect on this collection, I am filled with both excitement and accomplishment. Each piece is a true reflection of the ideas floating around in my mind and studio as I work through beautiful pigment explorations. The simple forms and deep colors hold the real, tactile experience of foraged pigments and handmade paints. They bring a moment of pause into the world as they carefully document the time + space of the world we live in. Below is a preview of a few of my favorites from the collection.

Views from My Studio 10.26.18

As many know, my season of rest has taught me a lot about creativity, burnout, and opportunities. Through this restful and awakening time, I’ve slowed down and explored some of the most fascinating and mesmerizing processes in my studio. If you walk through my artistic space right now, you’d find a lot of rocks, pigments, powders, mortals + pestles, brushes, palettes, ink, jars and experiments. Using earth pigments to make my own watercolor paints, I’ve continued to explore time + space, a concept that has consistently run throughout my work. If you are interested in collecting an original painting from my first earth pigment collection, sign up with your email below to gain early access to the launch!
